V60 Brewing Guide

Clean, bright, and expressive — the pour‑over that brings out every nuance.

The V60 is all about clarity. Its conical shape and single large outlet give you control over flow rate, extraction, and flavour. When brewed well, it produces a cup that’s clean, sweet, and layered — perfect for showcasing the character of Golden Sheep single origins.

This guide uses a simple, reliable recipe that works beautifully across a wide range of coffees.

Step-by-step instructions

What you'll need

  • V60 dripper (01 or 02)
  • V60 paper filter
  • Freshly roasted Golden Sheep Coffee beans (or purchase pre-ground)
  • Burr grinder (if using beans)
  • Kettle (gooseneck preferred)
  • Scales
  • Timer
  • Clean, filtered water

Recommended Recipe

  • Coffee: 15g
  • Water: 250g at ~94°C
  • Grind: Medium (similar to table salt)
  • Total brew time: ~2.5–3 minutes

This ratio gives a balanced, sweet cup with a clean finish.

Step 1 - Prepare the filter

  • Place the filter in the dripper and rinse thoroughly with hot water.
  • This removes papery flavours and preheats the brewer.
  • Discard the rinse water.

Step 2 - Add your coffee

  • Place the V60 on your cup or server and add the ground coffee.
  • Gently shake to level the bed.

Step 3 - Bloom

  • Start your timer.
  • Pour 30g of water evenly over the grounds.
  • Let it bloom for 30–45 seconds.

This releases trapped gases and sets up an even extraction.

Step 4 - Main pour

  • Pour slowly and steadily in small circles, keeping the water level consistent.
  • Aim to reach 150g by around 1:15, then continue until you reach 250g total.

Step 5 - Let it drain

Allow the water to draw down naturally.

The total brew time should land between 2:5 and 3 minutes

Step 6 - Serve and enjoy

Give the final brew a gentle swirl to combine layers before pouring

Step 7 - Taste and adjust

  • Too sour or sharp: grind finer or increase total brew time.
  • Too bitter or dry: grind coarser or pour more gently.
  • Too weak: Increase dose slightly.
  • Too strong: Reduce dose or increase water.

Small adjustments make a big difference with pour-over.

Our recommendation

The V60 is perfect for highlighting the clarity and sweetness of our single origins. If you enjoy bright, fruit‑forward cups, this method will bring out every nuance. For a rounder, more chocolate‑led profile, our Golden Sheep House Blend also performs beautifully.
